Sevadal Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur was established in 1992 under the former President-ship of Shri Keshaoraoji Shende for the noble mission of imparting knowledge to girls. The institution has keeping steady progress under present President-ship of Shri Sanjayji Shende. The management has been keen and meticulous not only creating infrastructural facilities but also in expanding the academic activities of the institution to a great extent in the field of Science, Home Science and Social Science.

The institution is affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. It is a grant-in-aid and self financing institution recognized by the University Grants Commission under 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956. It was accredited by the NAAC in 2004 with B++ Grade and Re-Accredited in 2010 with ‘A’ Grade.

The institution is located in Nagpur city. The college offers 33 programme options in the faculties of Science, Home Science and Social Science at Under-Graduate (U.G) and Post-Graduate (P.G.) levels, including self-supporting courses, innovative and Certificate Courses. The institution has Ph.D. programmes in Environment Science and Zoology. All the Research activities of the institution are coordinated by the Research Academy. The institution has 06 ongoing and 19 completed major and minor research programmes. At college level having recognized research guides is an asset and helps the institution to develop into a true teaching and learning centre. There are 10, 08 and 10 Departments in Science, Home Science and Social Science Faculties respectively. Coaching for competitive Examination is also offered by the institution.

The total student strength of the college in the year 2012-13 and 2013-14 was 962 and 930, respectively. The institution at present having 44 permanent and 15 contributory teaching staff. All the teachers are from Maharashtra State. There is altogether 25 non-teaching staff. The unit cost of education is Rs.20,819/- including salary component and Rs.2,131/- excluding salary component. The unit cost of education of self-supported courses is Rs.9,633/-

On completion of the period of five years after the re-accreditation (second cycle) by the NAAC in the year 2010, Sevadal Mahila Mahavidyalaya is preparing itself for the exercise of NAAC Re-accreditation (Third cycle). The institution is striving to the best of its ability with available resources to fulfill the goals and objectives set before it.
